Doctor's Lens Recommendations

THINNER LIGHTER LENS
State of the Art technology has created the new “High Index” lenses, which are considerably thinner and lighter. As a result, they weigh much less and are much more comfortable to wear. In addition, they contain an ultraviolet filter, which is required in all post-op cataract patients and provides protection from harmful UV rays of the sun.

POLYCARBONATE LENSES
These are the most impact-resistant lenses on the market today. They too are made of a thinner, lighter material. Their use is mandated for children under the age of 14 years old because of their superior safety features.

CRIZAL® LENSES "Crystal Clear Vision"
These lenses virtually eliminate glare and are great for night time driving by eliminating headlight glare. They also enhance the appearance of the wearer by allowing more of themselves to be seen through the glasses.

POLARIZED LENSES
These lenses eliminate all indirect reflection such as from the water or snow, allowing greater depth perception and
visual acuity. Excellent for boating and skiing.

TRANSITION LENSES THAT DARKEN IN THE SUN
These lenses automatically darken in sunlight and lighten indoors, allowing the wearer the convenience of one pair of glasses for use indoors and out.

U.V. FILTER
Ultraviolet Filter is highly recommended for its ability to protect the retina from the harmful effects of ultraviolet light, and for that reason, is also required for all post-op cataract patients. The best available U.V. Filter is Polycarbonate.

BIFOCAL LENSES
In the past this has been the most common style multi-focal lens. It allows the patient to see in the distance and close up with the same pair of glasses.

INTERMEDIATE RANGE REQUIREMENTS
With age, focus in the intemediate working range becomes progressively more diffi cult. This intermediate working  range includes such common activities as eating; washing dishes; playing cards, bingo, or a musical instrument;  seeing the speedometer in your car or the computer screen; reading prices in the supermarket; seeing the  telephone or calculator on your desk.

TRIFOCAL LENSES
These lenses are a likely progression from the flat top bifocal for those patients over 50 years old who would like to see clearly not only up close (reading) and in the distance, but also in the intermediate range.

VARILUX® LENSES (No-Line Multi-Focals)
(No-Line Multi-Focals) - Progressive lenses are the nearest to natural vision. They create a sense of constant clarity at all viewing distances. They are ideal for all fi rst time multi-focal lens wearers.
Varilux lenses - accept no substitute.
