Dr. Jorge J. Rivera joined Eye Health Vision Centers in April 2006. He is an experienced surgeon who is fellowship-trained in Glaucoma, Cornea, and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Rivera is highly qualified to offer his patients an exceptional level of anterior segment care. Dr. Rivera is certified to perform laser vision correction using the latest VISX and intralase technology.

Dr. Rivera graduated magna cum laude with a degree in General Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico. He received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School where he graduated with honors.

Following an internship in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, Yale University School of Medicine, he completed his residency training in ophthalmology at New England Eye Center, Tufts University School of Medicine. He then completed subspecialty training in Glaucoma at New England Eye Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.

After several years in private practice as a Glaucoma specialist, Dr. Rivera was selected for a Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive surgery fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes Jewish Hospital.

Dr. Rivera is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Brown University School of Medicine, where he has an active role in resident education.

Dr. Rivera is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the Massachusetts Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the Chandler-Grant Society, a group of internationally recognized glaucoma experts.

Dr. Rivera resides in Berkley with his wife and children. He practices in our Dartmouth, Taunton, and Middletown offices.
