Leonardo J. Velázquez, MD attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was active in research, graduating with Honors with a B.S.in Microbiology.  Upon graduation, he worked as a basic science Research Assistant at the Tufts University School of Medicine's Center for Hemostasis & Thrombosis Research, Division of Hematology/Oncology.  His efforts led to several published articles and abstracts.  He then attended the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.  He completed a Glaucoma Research Fellowship at New England Eye Center/Tufts University School of Medicine.  His work on the early detection of Glaucoma led to several publications and presentations at national meetings.  He completed his Internal Medicine Internship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School.

Dr. Velázquez is a Board-Certified fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  He has been with Eye Health Vision Centers since July of 2005 and practices in our Dartmouth and Taunton offices. He specializes in General Ophthalmology, Cataract Surgery and Glaucoma Laser Surgery.  His is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.  Dr. Velázquez resides in Dartmouth with his wife Laura and two children.
